Oftentimes, we define Steampunk music by gears, by songs about common Steampunk themes, by Victoriana, or by ways that performers resemble some of the best-known Steampunk bands. To me, the Folks Below embody the greatest and boldest part of the spirit of Steampunk – that of creating new worlds out of whole cloth, and creating amazing, intriguing, rich art out of those worlds… …and making that art into something which grabs you and catches you and makes you want to jump in and have more. Here’s a bit about the band: “‘The Folks Below’ reclaims and weaves stories from the underbelly of a burning city once consigned to oblivion. ” Biography Our Research team has excavated a number of clay plates made by the YerYerOwn. Each has the appearance of an ordinary dinner plate with an incised spiral decoration on the underside. Upon closer examination we realized the spiral had to have been mechanically produced. While researching methods available to the YerYerOwn we used a copper cone to trace the spiral. We were surprised to discover that the spirals were actually audio tracks. The YerYerOwn had successfully disguised all this audio as everyday dinner plates! It is known that the YerYerOwn employ many methods to conceal information from outsiders. This is the first of this method we have found. Out of thirty-one plates we unearthed, we were able to decode eleven. The sound from the plates was not fit for an album so we recreated what we heard and recorded it in a state of the art studio. Description: They laughed while they cried, they loved and were loved. Band Interests: The usual. Dumpstering, Foraging, Skinning & Dissection, half-lives, throwing spirited shin-digs, random acts of rebellion, feasting & revelry, ART. The band is complete with Nate Greenslit (Bury Me Standing) and Paul Dilley (Girls Guns & Glory) for live shows and recordings. For larger shows a wider net is cast reeling in musicians in the area of the event, often 1 or more players on stage will be playing together for the very first time. Breaking stereotypes and hearts since 2002 from Boston to Oakland and back again, HUMANWINE has played 32 of the 50 states, released 2 EPs, 3 LPs and a split Vinyl LP under their own Label Nervous Relatives Records. Nervous Relatives is the newest member to join the family of Artists at Lowell’s Western Avenue Studios.
